Spreadtrum acquires stake in UMTS/HSPA modem chipset developer
Spreadtrum Communications, a major fabless semiconductor provider in China with technology in both 2G and 3G wireless communications standards, has announced that it acquired an approximately 48.44% stake in MobilePeak. Based in Shanghai, China and San Diego, the US, MobilePeak specializes in the design of UMTS/HSPA+ modem chipsets.
